GETTING A LIBRARY CARD

Library cards are available to all residents of Texas free of charge. Customers will need to show photo identification and proof of current residential address. Customers are financially responsible for items checked out on their accounts.

Digital library cards allow access to all electronic resources, including Libby and Axis360, and are available to all Texas residents, as well. Digital library cards expire after one year. Customers can place one hold on a physical item with a digital card, and the digital card can be upgraded to a full-service card when the customer visits the library to check out their hold. Customers will need to show photo identification and proof of current residential address in order to upgrade their card.

Please note that ILL materials are coming from libraries across the country and each library may have different rules about delivery, renewals and fees.  Delivery time is usually 2 to 4 weeks.  Checkout is limited to one 4-week checkout with no renewals.  Additional time is dependent upon the lending library.  Ask the ILL librarian at the Central library to make the request.  The libraries we borrow from usually do not have fees or lending restrictions.

Each ILL material will come with an ILL slip wrapped around or otherwise attached to the item.  Loss of this slip could result in a lost fee, as the slip contains the barcode needed to check in the item.  ILL materials should be returned inside, directly at the Circulation desk.
