Using the Library
Library cards are available to all residents of Texas free of charge. Customers will need to show photo identification and proof of current residential address. Customers are financially responsible for items checked out on their accounts.
Digital library cards allow access to all electronic resources, including Libby and Axis360, and are available to all Texas residents, as well. Digital library cards expire after one year. Customers can place one hold on a physical item with a digital card, and the digital card can be upgraded to a full-service card when the customer visits the library to check out their hold. Customers will need to show photo identification and proof of current residential address in order to upgrade their card.
All physical items have a loan period of two weeks and five renewals are allowed. Automatic renewals will take place three days before due date as long as there are no holds on the items.
Overdue fines are no longer applied to accounts. Cards will be blocked after three overdue items. All items will be assumed lost after they are 30 days late. Patrons are still responsible for lost and damaged items. We will accept new or like new replacement copies of library items instead of payment.
ILL service is available at Pasadena Public Library to established library customers who meet the following criteria:
• Library account must have a working email or local phone number listed.
• Library account must be free of usage blocks.

Some limitations on requests do apply:

• New items (published last six months) should not be requested through the ILL service.
• Customers cannot exceed 5 requests at a time.Items owned by Harris County Public Library or Bellaire City Library can be placed on hold and should not be requested through ILL.
Please note that ILL materials are coming from libraries across the country and each library may have different rules about delivery, renewals and fees. Delivery time is usually 2 to 4 weeks. Checkout is limited to one 4-week checkout with no renewals. Additional time is dependent upon the lending library. Ask the ILL librarian at the Central library to make the request. The libraries we borrow from usually do not have fees or lending restrictions.
Each ILL material will come with an ILL slip wrapped around or otherwise attached to the item. Loss of this slip could result in a lost fee, as the slip contains the barcode needed to check in the item. ILL materials should be returned inside, directly at the Circulation desk.
