FAIRMONT: The Cost of Death: Funeral, Burial, and Consumer Choices (RR)

Funeral and burial costs are often confusing, opaque, and emotionally difficult to navigate—especially when decisions must be made quickly. In this informative session, Jessie Ong, Board Secretary of Funeral Consumers Alliance of San Antonio, explains how the death-care marketplace works and what families are often pressured to purchase without realizing they have options. Participants will learn what services are legally required, which costs are optional, why prices vary so widely, and how to ask informed questions during an emotionally charged time. This program focuses on consumer awareness and transparency rather than legal or end-of-life planning.
